About Us
Golden Courage International provides programs and services for children affected and/or orphaned by AIDS and for vulnerable children and youth in China's floating population. We educate and nurture their physical and emotional well-being and support the development of purposeful lives and healthy relationships. Most important, we bring renewed hope to children who have lost hope for a better future.
GCI has created a unique model of a U.S.-China charitable organization that is recognized as a non-profit legal entity in both countries. In the U.S., our 501(c)(3) status qualifies us to receive funds from foundations as well as grassroots donors.
In China, as a private charity, we have total control of our own funds and activities. In addition, we have direct access to the needy population of children and easily collaborate with government agencies, business leaders, and grassroots citizens. We have established a well-organized network that is embedded in the system and can serve the children and youth in China's floating population, which totals over 150 million people nationwide.
Our small but highly competent staff facilitates evidence-based interventions and enables families to become self-sufficient. In addition, since 2004, GCI has received a strong commitment from the Chinese government to match our programs one to one. When we help one child, they help one more.
