Long, 12
Long is a 12-year-old fourth grader and the youngest of three children. Both of her parents were infected with HIV while selling blood. Her father, a tricycle driver, has difficulty working. He is on medication, but has had severe reactions. They own three Mu (0.5 acre) of farmland, but must rely on Long's uncle to farm the land. The family earns about 1,000 Yuan ($125 U.S.) per year, but is about 10,000 Yuan in debt. Their home has sunk 0.5 meters, but they have no money to stabilize it.
